Past, Present & Future
First dreamt up by Patrick Nosker (featured below) in 2013, Vericoin has become a well known name among the cryptocurrency community & continues to make strides in its hardware & software advances. Patrick found his passion for cryptocurrencies and Bitcoin in 2009, mining a range of popular coins & currencies. Once bored with the substandard development and roadmaps of the coins he was mining, he began designing his own. Shortly teaming up with a couple of friends, Douglas Pike and David Boehm who have since helped Patrick take Vericoin from paper concept, to it’s current respected market implementation.
As with many, Vericoin has had it’s fair share of issues to overcome along the way. Most notably the infamous blockchain fork after several million dollars worth of Vericoin were stolen from Mintpal exchange. At the time many questioned whether this was the right decision, however Vericoin support is as strong as ever; with a dedicated news website, forum & radio station all built & run by the community, it’s clear there is still a lot of love out there for Vericoin & the developers. The team have big plans for Vericoin in the future as they continue to improve the currency & the systems it uses, they dream big and hope to bring digital currency to the masses through their mobile technology, Vericoin debit cards & education.
Meet The Team
Patrick Nosker started mining Bitcoin in late 2009 and then went on to mine Litecoin, Dogecoin, and BlackCoin. Fed up with stagnant development, he decided to team up with Doug and David to create VeriCoin. He studied Molecular Biology and Biochemistry as an undergraduate at Rutgers University and received high honors. Pat holds 3 US patents and is co-inventor of five more including one on influenza therapeutics along with Doug Pike.
Since being introduced to cryptocurrencies by Patrick, Doug concluded that a successful cryptocurrency required a stable community and innovative features, resulting in his development partnership with VeriCoin. As an undergraduate at Richard Stockton College, he studied Biology and is currently pursuing a PhD at Rutgers University in Biomedical Engineering. In addition to VeriCoin, Doug and Pat are co-inventors of a process to discover influenza therapeutics.
David attended Rutgers University with Pat and received his undergraduate and Master's degree in Computer Science with highest honors. As a recipient of the prestigious SMART scholarship, David worked for the US Department of Defense for the US Army Corps of Engineers as a software developer. David currently works for a small software company in Washington as a Sofware Development Engineer for a cloud computing group.
